08.04.09 – Structuring daily workload

Got up at 5:30 and finished blog for first two days. Then I left to explore the area and found a church, military marching ground, stadium, beggars, street cleaners. and lots of food.

that's where the cleaners put or sell the paper they collect on the street

It was surprising to see churches as only about 2-3% of the Hindi population is Christian. Later, I was told by workers of TBF that there are approximately 10% of the Bangalorian population is Christian. Pretty high for India don't you think?

Seeing beggars was nothing new, even if they were totally crippled. I didn't gave anything cause I told myself simply handing out money to beggars disrupts society and encourages begging. After a while I reconsidered my stance since cripples aren't able to actually produce anything. Thus I opted for only giving those some spare money... usually like 1-2 ruppee (about 0,03€). However right now I considering who gets this money? Do they or does it go to criminal organisations who accomodate these beggars and provide them with a meager amount of food. It's astionishing to see what people are willing to take to survive... whereas it might also be possible that suicide is simply not considered due to religious reasons. I started and finished reading a book about the ancient Hindi cast system and it frequently made you look baffled. Well, I won't have to explain much about the cast system, Karma and Hinduism itself as it requires lots of self-study. For my part I quite like Hindiusm without its countless dogmatic interpretations. Why? Because everybody can make up his own mind. Cast rules used to be the only law binding people to a certain way of action, uniting employees in trade unions and strengthen family taste.

Back to current reality... the cast system has luckily mostly been eradicated, nevertheless it is still there. I suspect most of the street cleaners do belong there. Today I wondered who tells the to clean what and where. For those who don't know, India is an incredible place... both in terms of culture, food a trash. Such an incredible diversity!

While working we had our first power outage for our cat. Well wasn't that interesing as I'm almost used to it, so whatever...

I'm tired and probably going to read a little more clean parts of my room and get up early around 8pm. Tomorrow I'll get up early around 8pm (perhaps not so early), get my mobel from the shop, do lots of work through rereading and making notes out of various case studies...
