just bumped into an amazing documentary... if not the best I've ever seen

This is a series of documentary... 3 á 1 hour which was extremely educating to me. Explained a little of the evoluation of the recent surge of "Free Market Theory" and similar beliefs, which surround the degradation of human beings to simple mechanic robots making rational decision. It includes topics such as the "Game Theory" and similar phsychological krimskrams :)

AHOI

This entry is probably gonna take a little while to write as I gotta reflect on so many things. There's Uni, Friends, Sara, Family, myself and of course the usual stuff of politics/ economics.

OK how to start? Chronologically might be the best solution, but it will develop as I write... as usual. I've only posted something about my granny and Palestine recently. The latter still... well it doesn't enrage me, but makes me speechless.... it could drive you mad if you look at the election results in Israel recently. Well... both sides are going to keep on suffering with one side unproportionally much :(

Beginning of January... well I was receiving quite a few CS-requests at that time and hosted... say 3-4 people in a month, which was quite cool. The very first was Sara, who has been sent over by Rachel. She stayed in my kingdom for 3 days or so, then moved into her own room in Mary Morris. With some time passing by we got wired... was always fun talking to her and stuff. OK, you probably all know where this ends now... we hung around... more... and more... every day... and... finally we're a couple now. We even ended up living together (still do) in one of those tiny rooms in Mary Morris. Why that? Remember I told you that I may go to India again (I hope I did). Because of my unwillingness to accept a 20! weeks contract, whereas I only need 12 was needed... which would have cost me a little student fortune. But as usual I was lucky. After half a month knowing each other I asked her whether it would be feasible to move into her room. Funnily she agreed :) Do I compensate her in monetary terms? I try to... paying the food, which is a little tricky since I eat thrice as much as her, if not more. Reflecting on that experience after 1 1/2 months, I gotta admit that great! Very entertaining, relaxing and teaching. Our relationship develops further every day and I feel it's something sustainable :)
As 'm learning Spanish currently she's helping me a lot with having "los coversaciones en Espanol". I'm getting closer to my minimum target of 5 languages and 4 by the time I'm 25! Back to Sara... she's a 23 year old Mexicana de Cuernavaca, where the spring never ceases... does get boring though ;) She moved to Leeds to do her PhD in nutrician science, which is kind of fun, coz you can learn a few more or less healthy things so you'll be ablte to reach the 100! I have a hard time catching up to her daily workload, so I can match her someday (no it's not a competition). Guess I'm not gonna be able to do that anyway, as my genes don't allow me to concentrate 23 hours a day... aaah nature is so selective (dumb excuses)! Still I am doing much better than before and learning constantly to focus, plan, study et cetera in order to reach those goals I have in mind. I do feel a lot of fulfillment when I have been productive during the day. I suppose it's the same for everybody, but to feel this constantly, to give your best wherever you can and to take on tasks you thought would be impossible is great coz it enriches life soooo much! Developing self-confidence in your ability helps moving mountains, well not yet, but soon I will ;) I can make a reference to John, DJ, Brigitte... I keep on reading John's blog once he's posting something. He's making a difference by simple "doing things" and giving all he has. All those projects he's involved is stunning and inspiring. Keep going your way and never forget to live up to your principles... was a pleasure meeting you in HK and looking forward to a repetition. Man, I think I've written that already couple of months ago... see how much of an impact some people have.
Thanks to people like Sara, John and all the others I've met through couchsurfing and wherever else transform your mindset. My advice to anybody is... get inspiration! Find purpose! Motivate yourself somehow! Although Tony Robbins is an alpha-male big time, he knows what he's talking about and is able to inspire, motivate and encourage people to take action. Read his books, which are available on amazon and you may find ways to get more out of yourself. This world can be truly beautiful if you want it to be. Through reading Toni's book "Awaken the Giant within" I realized that I already apply many of these results necessary to lead a fulfilling life. There are reasons why I'm able to be literally non-stop in a happy mood. Sure this is also the fault of my circumstances, but there is definetively more to it! After happiness comes the challenge of productivity and I'll see what's next :) Personal growth is one of the most rewarding things you can pursue in your life! Never stop reaching further!

Next topic! I recently decided to go to Handball again. Indeed I'm goaly, as you can see below.

It's great to be able to do Spanish, Handball, University and whatever else comes across and perform well in all of them... I could have never done this a year ago... not even 2 months *gosh*
The picture you see up there is from my first game, where I sucked pretty much *haha*

Yeah... I've been to another concert with Burgi, straight after a Handball match we had in Nottingham (won almost 3/3 games). Rise Against... Burgi is totally into it and knows every single word of their songs. I didn't, but loved the concert. Closing your eyes and being pushed around and squeezed while listening to great music is ace! After the concert we stayed with Rachel, a friend of ours, whom we've met a year ago in Leeds. She's living in a vegan collective with lots of cool dogs and is promoting animal rights with friends at weekly demonstrations. Believe or not they have an impact. They got a few things banned already like duck liver, well this is how it looks. Animal rights activist are cool!
Back to Burgi... we're looking forward to conquer Spain by feet. Can't wait to walk those 2000 km's. It's gonna be the coninuation of the great time I got right now. For myself it's almost a challenge and I aim at reaching 50 km every day after an introduction phase. Don't know, but perhaps I should opt for the more relaxed option Burgi is pursuing, but I suppose I won't... wanna see what I can. We'll definetively walk a while together and see how far we get. My route is illustrated here: Google Maps. Burgi intends to finish in Porto where he's got some friends. While we're walking we may promote Kiva, but we gotta make leaflets first. I'm considering to set up a lending group and promote that, so people join up and lend using our group. Would be great coz we could see our impact. I'll be posting the ready made leaflets up here.
When finishing the walk I may go to study in Sweden, which would be the preferred option. I am still looking for other oportunities to do my masters in sustainable managent, politics or something similiar. If nothing would work out I could actually go to Mexico, coz Sara has got a free return ticket left, which she doesn't need anymore. The ticket is scheduled for the 11th of September, so if anybody's interested let me/us know! So whatever way it turns out to be, it's gonna be great... don't know what she wants to do with it, but probably not letting it expire.
Oh... I didn't even tell you that I bought a guitar just after New Yeaer! However I gotta admit that I stopped practising, which went really well both alone and with Daniel (our messy musician)... too busy with everything else right now, but I'm 100% sure that sooner or later I'm gonna play. Bonfires, guitar and a veggie beef... could there be anything better? Hmm... thinking about veggie beef makes me feel hungry! Have been to the market today and bought Sharons/ Oranges/ Aubergine and whatever else a choosy vegetarian heart wishes for.
What else is new? I get a little more diverse regarding music... laugh if you like, but I start to listen to Britney Spears... not often, but once a month :) It's fun somehow! And due to Burkhard I got more into the hardcore scene as well --> Parkway Drive s my favorite! Listening to Scooter in between is a welcome exchange haha

Myyyyyy grandma! The post on my blog didn't really work, and posting on CS groups either, which is fine. However almost all of my CS friends from Asia/ US/ Europe sent her a post card... she was LOVING IT! She was telling all her friends, who were like "woohooo, COOOL". Old people are great ;)

Wanna finish up with some recommendations to look up for you:
Ted - one of the most inspiring websites on earth!
and two documentaries:
The War Tapes
Jesus Camp

So... am busy again, I'll write another entry whenever I feel like... but for sure once I've arrived in India since I gotta do reflective writing anyway.

Almost forgot to mention moovando. It's still not ready for launch but we're working on it to make it better and prepare the avalanche :D

HOWDY!

Phil
